World Environment Day is celebrated on the 5th of June every year and is the United Nation's principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment.

Through the efforts to limit its energy footprint and promote responsible environmental awareness across the spectrum of its business activity, APIVITA contributes to the achievement of the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals. Indicatively, we mention that in 2019, total electricity consumed in our facilities was from renewable energy sources, in accordance with the Green Certificate received by the electricity provider.

The Botanical Garden of APIVITA in the surrounding area of the factory at Markopoulo, hosted in 2019 more than 3000 students from Greece and abroad. It is worth noting that the garden - which hosts more than 150 different species of plants - is maintained with rainwater harvesting and with in-house composted plant residues!

Especially this year we are very proud, as we have the pleasure to announce the completion of a new Urban Botanical Garden at the ActionAid building in Athens. Since its inception in 1972, ActionAid has been working for a society free of poverty and injustice and is an independent, international organization operating in 46 countries around the world.

The botanical garden was built on the roof of “Epikentro” in Kolonos and will serve the needs of the educational programs offered free of charge to adults, children, and their families. “Epikentro” is a center of support for the fellow human beings who face financial problems and social exclusion.

Finally, on World Environment Day, volunteer employees of APIVITA at the company's factory and office building, volunteered to clean the surrounding area of the factory at the Industrial Park of Markopoulo by sending their own message to protect biodiversity!

It is time to put nature at the heart of all our decision making!
