APIVITA, a natural beauty brand based in Athens, is the Runner-Up of the New Sustainable Product Award category of the 2018 Sustainable Beauty Awards, that were announced at a dedicated reception in Paris a few days ago.


This prize was awarded to APIVITA for its Pindos Wild Herbs Body Care range that embodies the holistic approach of the life cycle of a product born for a good cause. Based on wild herbs handpicked by the local community of Mountain Pindos, these body care products - body milk and shower gel -  funded the educational “eco-literacy” programs for the children of the villages in Pindos area, a remote and alpine region of unique beauty, located in Central Greece. In this way all value created by the product returned to the land of origin.

 The  “Pindos Wild Herbs” project promotes the Greek Biodiversity by using the Pindos Mountain herbs as its main ingredients and is a product with extremely high composition of natural ingredients, (99% for the Moisturizing Body Milk and 88% for the Shower Gel). In addition, the water in the formula is replaced by a patented antioxidant infusion of three organic Greek mountain tea species and the PET bottle used for the packaging of the products is made of up to 50% post-consumer recycled material. Moreover, both products where manufactured at the APIVITA bioclimatic premises that uses 100% renewable energy sources and a number of low environmental impact practices in its manufacturing process.

APIVITA is very proud to receive the New Sustainable Product Award, since it is a new award category introduced in 2018 that aims at promoting the new cosmetic or personal care products with important sustaina­bility credentials. Other finalists of this award category were Aveda, Hair O' Right and Trash Hero Love Refillable Beauty Products.


 APIVITA was also ranked among the finalists of the Sustainability Leadership Award along with Weleda, Neal's Yard Remedies and Symrise.

The Sustainable Beauty Awards are organized by Ecovia Intelligence and aim at giving recognition to organizations pushing the boundaries of sustainability in the beauty industry. About 100 international entries were received for the awards, with the winners and runner-ups selected by a jury comprising an ingredient firm, retailer, formulator, media agency, natural cosmetics industry organization, and research firm.
