World Environment Day is celebrated on the 5th of June every year and is the United Nation's principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment.

Through the efforts to limit its energy footprint and promote responsible environmental awareness across the spectrum of its business activity, APIVITA contributes to the achievement of the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals and in particular Goal 7: “Affordable and Clean Energy”, Goal 8: “Decent Work and Economic Growth”, Goal 12: “Responsible Production and Consumption”, and Goal 13: “Climate Action”.

Our green philosophy is clearly shown at APIVITA’s bioclimatic premises situated at the Industrial Park of Markopoulo, Mesogaia, Greece. APIVITA factory and office building is characterized by cutting-edge technology with provisions made for energy savings, water management, the creation of a micro-climate and enhancement of biodiversity.

In 2018, total electricity consumed was derived from renewable energy sources, in accordance with the Green Certificate received by the electricity provider.

APIVITA prefers to use EMAS and FSC certified recycled or eco-certified paper which is biodegradable and is sourced from sustainably managed forests. At the same time, the paper must be chlorine-free (chlorination being method of bleaching which burdens the environment) and shall not contain heavy metals.

APIVITA, faithful to its values created a new Eco-pack 500ml bottle. But what does Eco-pack really mean? Eco-logy, as 38% less plastic per ml of usage is needed to produce each bottle, in comparison with the 250ml one. For example, for each bottle used, this energy saving is equal to the consumption of 1 lamp of 54 Watt for one hour whereas for 10.000 bottles used, it is equivalent to the consumption of 1 fridge continuously working over a year! Eco-pack also means Eco-nomy as it contains a larger amount of bulk that lasts longer. At the same time, the bottle follows APIVITA standards for the use of recycled PET and it is recyclable.

In addition to being part of the company’s DNA and its philosophy, the preservation of biodiversity plays an important role in our viability since the sustainability of bees and plants has a direct impact on the accessibility of raw materials. As a result, for the past 40 years, the company has been committed to respect and sustain natural resources, to actively engage in the protection of biodiversity by using fully traceable raw materials. AT the end of the day we continuously strive to improve our practices and reduce our impact on the environment.

We respect the Environment; we ensure the Planet’s Future, we sustain life!
