Environmental Care

At APIVITA we are committed to creating a world that is environmentally conscious. We strive to provide our customers with the proper tools and information in order to help them make the best ecological choices for themselves, their families and the environment. When we started APIVITA in 1979, we began with a strong commitment not only to provide the best quality products for overall well-being but also to support the cultural, social and natural environment. Honesty and transparency with our customers are two of the values that are important to APIVITA. Our business practices are openly communicated to our customers from the raw material sourcing all the way through to the final product. We are committed to the highest standards of ethical business practices to ensure that all activities are followed out with respect to nature and humans alike. At APIVITA, we also have a strong commitment to animals and never undertake any animal testing for our ingredients or products.

Evolving Our Ongoing Green Business Practices, Products and Services

At APIVITA, we strive to remain on the forefront of green innovations and implement the most ecologically conscious practices in all parts of our company:

  • We ensure that we only use the purest, natural and most organic ingredients.
  • We also make sure that our packaging, production and distribution is carried out with respect to the natural environment as well.
  • Our products packaging is designed to utilize the highest percentage of recyclable and recycled materials. All products are both reusable and renewable.
  • We also believe that our customers should be proactive in their ecological choices. Therefore, right on our label, we disclose just how much we utilize natural ingredients in our products so that consumers can make the most conscious and informed decisions for themselves and the environment.

Sustaining Our Natural Resources

Running a business utilizes a vast amount of natural resources but at APIVITA we are consciously committed to sustaining natural resources by conserving energy and water and minimizing our waste. We pay close attention to the energy we consume in comparison to what we produce in order to reduce our ecological footprint, our carbon footprint and our water footprint. By constantly evaluating our activities and our progression, we strive to find the most efficient and successful methods of production that stay true to our commitments and goals in order to conserve our resources and the Earth. The design of the new factory and office buildings has incorporated bioclimatic architecture principles, green roof, water purification and reuse and geothermal, solar panels and other energy and water saving technologies.

Hippocrates Garden

APIVITA truly traces its roots to the teachings and Greek philosophy of Hippocrates, known as “The Father of Medicine”. Hippocrates believed that “nature is the most dominant ruler of all” and that “prevention is better than cure.” It is his holistic approach to medicine and the natural herbs of the Grecian soil from which we draw our inspiration.

As a tribute to the “Father of Medicine,” APIVITA has pledged an ongoing commitment to reviving the “Hippocrates Botanical Garden” on the island of Kos, where Hippocrates lived, studied and taught, to better understand and promote his work. On 5-acres of land near the Asklepieion archaeological area, we have planted 254 herbs that Hippocrates cited in his book and used to treat his patients. APIVITA’s long-term commitment is to focus on researching, studying and promoting Hippocrates’ work so that we may educate the world about the importance of a holistic approach to health and beauty. To ensure the success, on-going development and evolution of the garden, as well as to promote Hippocrates teachings and holistic approach to the world, we have also founded the non-profit organization “Hippocrates 2,500 years.” Ultimately, we envision to handover a social, environmental and cultural heritage that we have only temporarily borrowed from the future generations of the world.

While modern medicine continues to evolve, we still remain true to our original goal, more than 30 years later, to rely on nature to nourish, heal and protect our bodies. It is no surprise to us that we still utilize many of the same therapeutic, aromatic, and cosmetic properties of herbs today as we did 2,500 years ago. For example, Hippocrates was known to “prescribe” St. John’s wort to his patients for its anti-inflammatory and healing properties and it is still used for the same reasons today. Like Hippocrates, we believe in the use of natural herbs and remedies and do not support the use of chemicals or ingredients that are harmful to your health. Through our products we wish to support the ongoing quest for kallos, which in Greek represents the inner and outer beauty, health and well being of the body, mind and soul.

Future Generations

Fully aligned with sustainable development principles we have committed ourselves to giving back to future generations. We are actively involved in the worldwide initiative “Junior Achievement Worldwide”, the largest organization in the world dedicated to educating students about entrepreneurship and financial literacy through hands-on programmes. Every year it reaches 9.7 million students in 379,968 classrooms across 123 countries throughout the world. Furthermore at APIVITA every year we welcome more than 500 students at our facilities and we visit more than 30 schools and 3000 students ranging from elementary schools, junior high and high schools, colleges and universities. We believe that the least we can offer back is our commitment to share with them our passion for life and nature, for bees and herbs. We wish to pollinate the future generations with values and principles that will lead to new horizons of innovation and eco entrepreneurship for a greener sustainable world.
